A safe clean community is integral to a thriving neighborhood. I have personally lost friends to the fentanyl crisis, I will make sure the NYPD has funding to focus on drug distribution of opioid class drugs.
Many of you have noticed that store shelves at CVS are locked up due to thefts, this is unacceptable. No one should have to ring a bell to get deodorant.
New York’s State cash bail reform is an impactful law in reducing unnecessary jail time to non violent offenders. Unfortunately, there are repeat offenders of theft and property crimes that are able to abuse the law and create the environment of “locked up “convenience stores.
I propose a fool me once shame on you fool, me twice shame on me law, which will ensure that first time offenders of property laws will not face time jail time but there second offense will. This is an equitable amendment to the cash bail reform law, which will help public safety and commerce while preventing discriminatory bail practices of the past.
